Some of you will be aware of the Royal Academy of Engineering's (RAEng) This is Engineering campaign, launched in January, to rebrand engineering for young people, and their influencers, to encourage them to take up careers in engineering. Since it was launched in January 2018, the first season of films have been viewed more than sixteen million times.

Recently they have launched a new season of This is Engineering films. In response to the significant engineering skills shortage, the films aim to increase consideration of engineering careers, by illustrating the role of engineering in many areas young people are interested in – such as fast cars, film and protecting the environment. They showcase the experiences of seven young engineers from a variety of engineering jobs and educational pathways. Each film has been developed to provide young people from all backgrounds with the opportunity to discover how they could follow what they love into a varied and fulfilling engineering career.

You can see the films at www.ThisisEngineering.org.uk and on YouTube. Should you wish to join in on social media, tag @ThisIsEng, using #ThisIsEngineering and we encourage you to share the films widely across your social media networks, and make use of them in your projects. This short toolkit shares more detail on the campaign and ways you could use it.

This campaign is being led by the Academy, in collaboration with EngineeringUK and industry partners, but has been developed for the whole profession. It is a major part of the RAEng's collective contribution to the Government’s 2018 Year of Engineering, and will also play a key role in the legacy of the Year.
