On a balmy Wednesday evening in late June, Cambridge, Oxford, IvyPlus and UniBrit alumni and guests gathered in the Craig Noel Garden of the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego for a drinks reception, pre-show talk by a member of the Old Globe staff, and a performance of the Bard’s ever-popular romantic comedy As You like it. Almost 90 attendees enjoyed a very informative talk and a wonderful performance.

Bucolic Balboa Park is the ideal spot for Shakespeare’s enticing tale of mistaken identity, heartfelt romance, and the endearing fumbles and foibles of love.

The magical forest of Arden is the play’s famous setting, where a gallery of eccentric characters comes together to find love, fortune, redemption...and themselves. Banished from the court by her deceitful and treacherous uncle, Rosalind disguises herself as a boy, not knowing that the man she loves, also on the run, is behind the next tree.

We’ll be going to the Old Globe again on Wednesday, August 28th for another Shakespeare favorite, Romeo and Juliet, with a wine reception at 6.45pm, Talk at 7.15pm and the performance at 8pm.
