Sydney - 7th Oxbridge Croquet Day
Sydney - 7th Oxbridge Croquet Day
Alumni and guests are invited to join the Cambridge Society of New South Wales for a day of croquet.
The first session includes a coaching period for novices or rusty players.
Use these games to have fun, mix up and meet other players, and select amongst yourselves best two pairs for the Light Blues and the best two for the Dark Blues. With two games on each lawn, we only have sixteen players in action at once so you may expect to have to sit out a session or two in the course of the morning. However, to be more sociable (and to learn) some spectators may also choose to follow a game around the lawn.
1.00 - 2.00 lunch break (BYO lunch - and there is a Coles quite close by if you need fresh ingredients). Enthusiasts can, of course, continue to play another session and take their lunch later (or earlier).
2.00 - 3.30 Friendly Blues tournament.
First session (45 mins - as in the morning): Two Light Blue pairs playoff to determine First Pair on the day; ditto Dark Blues.
The second session (best of 7 hoops, no time limit): two First Pairs play for the title, two Second Pairs play for minor places.
3.30 (approx) Prizes.
Mentors: As always, we have some experienced mentors who generously give their time to coach and advise on play and tactics as you go. More about this on the day.
