Volunteer at a degree ceremony
Role: Degree ceremony volunteer
We're recruiting volunteers to help run the alumni stand at Cambridge degree ceremonies.
What's involved?
- Congratulating graduates and handing out gift bags
- Answering questions from graduates and their guests
- Setting up and/or packing away the stand
Why volunteer?
- You'll be one of the first to congratulate our new alumni, thus playing an important role in their special day
- You'll be based in the grand surrounds of the Senate-House
- You'll experience this ancient University tradition from a different perspective
Location
- The Senate-House Yard, central Cambridge
Time involvement
- Attendance at one or more degree ceremonies per academic year
- Most shifts are about 4/5 hours long and take place over a morning/afternoon or an afternoon/early evening
Manual handling
- The role involves lifting, carrying and transporting items and may not be suitable for anyone with a previous or existing musculoskeletal disorder, injury or medical condition, or anyone who is pregnant
Expenses
- We can reimburse reasonable volunteer expenses, such as for local travel
- Free refreshments will be provided
