Join members of Cambridge Society Sheffield for a buffet dinner and talk by Professor Chris Husbands, Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University.

According to the BBC, 2017 was a challenging year for universities. They were hit by a combination of uncomfortable issues ranging from student fees, value-for-money and insecure funding to wider concerns about free speech, senior pay and the impact of internationalisation/Brexit. This left many feeling that universities were drifting away from being forces for public good and were looking out of touch and self-serving.

These are some of the issues that we can discuss with Professor Chris Husbands at our annual guest lecture. Chris is an alumnus of Emmanuel College, Cambridge (MA, PhD) and the Institute of Education (London University) (PGCE). He has spent a long and distinguished career in the education sector.
