On Sunday 14th April we have the chance to discover Perth’s history and heritage the way it was meant to be discovered... with a beer or two (and other drinks, as available at the bars we will visit on our route).

Join architectural historian and beer enthusiast Eddie Marcus for a guided walk and talk about Perth’s earliest pubs. The walk begins at the State Library’s ‘Liquid Gold’ exhibition of WA brewing history and visits the sites of the earliest pubs in Perth, including the Wheat Sheaf Tavern and The Pig & Whistle, now all lost to us. But while the buildings have gone, we can still hear their stories and have a pint at the oldest remaining hotels in the city. For those who would like to eat/drink beforehand, the PICA Bar is directly opposite the State Library.

Walking is fairly easy over a slow-paced 2km or so, and suitable for most abilities. Seating and toilets available inside licensed venues. Under 18s welcome, with appropriate guardians, since bars allow minors during the day. Sensible footwear recommended.
