Join Lancashire Cambridge Society for their autumn lecture and hear from Stephan Harker (Emmanuel 1965), Natural Scientist, Theologian, and Priest, for 27 years Senior Chaplain of Charterhouse..

Stephan will examine the life and times of the Russian poet Boris Leonidovich Pasternak (1890 – 1960) and present an analysis of his Nobel Prize-winning novel, Doctor Zhivago (1956) and how its insights interpret features of our contemporary world. The Nobel Prize award to the novel triggered a savage condemnation by the Soviet Government, Pravda, and the Writers’ Union, but it endured to see the collapse of the Soviet Union.
