Alumni and guests are invited to join the Cambridge Society of Hereford and Worcester for an Evening lecture with Prof. Elena Rodriguez- Falcon, acting CEO and Provost of Hereford University.

The Lecture will be on 'Turning Engineering Education on Its Head' followed by a light buffet supper at the Zimmerman Building, Hereford Cathedral School.

New Model in Technology and Engineering (NMiTE) is the first new university in the UK for 40 years and it is looking at turning engineering education on its head. The Acting CEO, Professor Elena Rodriguez-Falcon, will explore what the advantages of the new model proposed will bring to the students, the employers and the profession. The first cohort of students will be admitted this coming September.

Before joining NMiTE, Elena held the role of Professor of Enterprise and Engineering Education at The University of Sheffield, having worked previously in industry for seven years. Elena was awarded the status of Principal Fellow at the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA) in 2012 - one of the first ten in the UK. Elena’s innovative approaches to education have merited recognition by the Higher Education Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and Enterprise Educators UK (EEUK) and as a Northern Champion by the Institute of Public Policy Research in 2012, to mention but a few. In 2014 Elena was Highly Commended by the Princess Royal for her work promoting women in engineering.
