Members and guests are invited to join Isobel Shaw on a moonlight walk in the snow with dinner on Friday 23 February.

Meet Isobel at 18.30 at La Givrine in the big carpark on the right of the road 200 metres past La Givrine railway station. Expect to be back at the cars around 23.00.

The train that leaves Nyon at 17.22 arrives at La Givrine at 18.05 This is a request stop so remember to ring the bell.  The last return train leaves La Givrine at 21.48 - too early for us -  but we can organise a ride down to Nyon for anyone who comes by train.  Parking is free at La Givrine after 18h.

The walk will take place no matter what the weather. The restaurant, Cuvaloup de Crans, asks for CHF20 per person in advance which the club will advance on your behalf. No-shows must reimburse the club.
Isobel knows the area very well and will chose a suitable route according to the weather conditions. The maximum length of the walk will be one hour each way. Or about 30 minutes each way if it is stormy or raining hard. The restaurant is not accessible by car.  The height gain is 90 metres rising steeply towards the end. We return by an easier, shorter route.

Wear suitable boots with good gripping soles and I highly recommend crampons (available in any sports shop) and walking poles for balance - it might be icy.  Snow shoes are not necessary and are not recommended.  Dress in layers with a waterproof outer layer and with warm hat and gloves. Bring a flashlight.
