The Oxford and Cambridge Society of Austria welcomes alumni, their friends, and family for this year's Christmas dinner at the Vienna Marriott Hotel.

We are delighted to announce this year's guest of honour; Professor Tim Eisen of Medical Oncology at The University Of Cambridge and, Vice President Of Astazeneca Oncology Early Clinical Development. 

Tim trained at the Royal Marsden Hospital and took up the professorship of medical oncology in Cambridge in 2006. His current research interests are the identification of genetic risk factors for lung cancer and the development of better treatments for kidney cancer. In 2019, Tim was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

In 2014, Tim took part-time leave of absence from University to work in AstraZeneca as it moved its research and development Hub to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. Tim has led the US and UK-based team of 150 people which designs, delivers and analyses a portfolio of over 160 clinical trials of new AstraZeneca oncology drugs across the world.

Tim works with patient support charities, particularly as a trustee of Macmillan Cancer Support, the largest UK charity supporting people affected by cancer.

In his talk, Tim will describe a hopeful vision of the future treatment of cancer and why it is vital for medicine, academia, industry and patient organisations to work better together to achieve it.
