Volunteer at Freshers' Events
Volunteer at a Cambridge University Freshers’ Event
The University Alumni Engagement team is recruiting current students and recent graduates to help at Freshers’ Events taking place around the world in August and September 2019. Hosted by Alumni Groups, these events are a great opportunity for new students to prepare for university and make new friends before they arrive.
Much of the success of Freshers' Events is down to the current students and recent graduates recruited to share their experiences of living and studying in Cambridge with attendees. It works particularly well when such volunteers help at an event in their own country or region, as any tips shared are likely to be more relatable.
Why volunteer for this role?
You will be one of the first to welcome the 2019–20 intake of new students to Cambridge. Having been there yourself, you know that starting university can be daunting, but your friendly welcome and useful tips are likely to make a direct and considerable difference towards helping incoming students feel reassured and better-prepared for university. This is also a good opportunity to widen your networks with students and alumni.
Volunteers are asked to attend one or more Freshers’ Events in August or September 2019. The majority of events are around two hours in duration and take place over a lunchtime or evening.
