Location
Directions to Miombo Park in Christon Bank
To get there, head out of Harare on the Golden Stairs rd (aka 2nd St Extension or the Mazowe Rd). After approx. 7kms you will reach a toll booth. Pay your two dollars and carry on for a further 5kms. On the left, you’ll see a small sign for Mazowe Bricks. On the right, you’ll see a more obvious cluster of signs, including one for the Christon Bank supermarket. Turn right here on to the Christon Bank Rd.
Proceed for approx 3.5 kms along the Christon Bank road. You’ll pass an open boom gate, come down a hill, level out and then, on the left-hand side, you’ll see a small sign for “Miombo Park”. There are two driveways going uphill, parallel to each other. Take the one on the right. The track is rough, and best handled in a high clearance vehicle. YOu’ll eventually get to a gate where a guard will let you in. Keep going until you finally reach the top of the hill. Well done! You’ve arrived!
If you miss the Miombo Park turning, you will see a factory on the left and then a road on the right marked Malcomdale Rd. These indicate that you’ve gone too far and need to turn back.
If all else fails, ask people. Miombo Park is a popular bus stop, so most people can direct you there.
Carpool/Transport
If you are keen to offer your car to carpool or you need a lift, please let me know. If the numbers warrant it, I am happy to try and find a small minibus and we can all go together. Carpoolers, meet at mine (7 Waller Ave, Mt Pleasant) at 9.15am on the 11th of May.
