Alumni and guests are invited to join the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Toronto, for their annual dinner at Massey College.
The evening is dedicated to the memory of Kenneth McCarter, who sadly passed away in 2016. Ken's many contributions to our alumni network as well as the wider community are recalled and honoured through this event.
Nathalie Des Rosiers, Principal of Massey College will provide a post-dinner address. Professor Nathalie Des Rosiers will lead Massey College for a five-year term through August, 2024. Previously, she was a Member of Provincial Parliament in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, representing the riding of Ottawa-Vanier. She served as Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry.
Born in Montreal, she studied law at Université de Montréal and received a LLM from Harvard University. She practiced law in London, Ontario, with Lerners LLP, and was also Professor, Faculty of Law, Western University. She served as President of the Law Commission of Canada (2000-2004), Dean of the Civil Law Section, University of Ottawa (2004-2008), Vice-President of Governance, University of Ottawa (2008-2009). She was general counsel for the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (2009-2013), and then returned to the University of Ottawa as Dean of Common Law Section (2013-2016). She is a Member of the Order of Canada, a recipient of the Order of Ontario, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. She holds doctorates Honoris Causa from the Law Society of Ontario and Université catholique de Louvain (Belgique). Her scholarship has focused on women’s rights and constitutional law.
Dress code: Business Attire – or better, bring your gown (this might be your only opportunity to wear it appropriately in Toronto)
