Napoleon once said that the policy of every state lay in its geography. The connection between location and grand strategy is now commonplace, but also little understood. Tim Marshall has done more than most to make geopolitics accessible to a wider audience through his books, which have gained a global audience. After Tim’s successful lecture about borders a few years ago, he now returns to the Centre for Geopolitics to speak to his new book on The power of geography. Ten maps that reveal the future of our world.

Tim Marshall has decades of experience in international affairs. He was diplomatic editor at Sky News and has reported from forty countries. He is the author of several best-selling books, including Prisoners of Geography. Ten maps that tell you everything you need to know about Global Politics and Divided. Why we’re living in an age of walls.

Chair: Brendan Simms, Director, Centre for Geopolitics
