Alumni and guests are invited to join the Suffolk Cambridge Society for a visit to the English Whisky Company followed by lunch at Peter Beales Roses.

St.George’s Distillery in Roudham is home to The English Whisky Company. This beautiful distillery was designed and built by the Nelstrop family in 2006 for the specific purpose of producing the very finest English Single Malt Whisky. Norfolk is one of the world’s premier barley growing regions and high purity water is drawn from the Breckland aquifer deep beneath the distillery to produce the highest quality whisky. Our visit will include a guided tour of the distillery followed by lunch in ‘The Kitchen’ restaurant (menu attached).

After lunch, we travel a short distance by car to Peter Beales Roses at Attleborough (NR17 1AY) which takes ~10 minutes. Founded in 1968, Peter Beales Roses have become renowned around the world for specialising in the preservation of old fashioned, historic and rare roses, as well as winning many prestigious awards, including 25 Gold medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Our visit will include a guided tour of the two-acre display gardens followed by afternoon tea of tea/coffee and cake.

Programme:

10.30am: Meet at St. George’s Distillery, Harling Road, Roudham for tea/coffee.
11.00am: Guided one hour tour of the distillery.
12.30pm: Lunch (one course) in The Kitchen restaurant.
1.45pm: Depart by car to Peter Beales Roses, London Road, Attleborough which is about 8 miles away and takes 10 minutes.
2.00pm: Guided tour of the extensive Display Gardens followed by tea/coffee and cake.
