We hope you will be able to join us at the Castle Community Rooms in Framlingham for a talk given by the historian Dr Toby Capwell. Toby is a renowned expert on European arms and armour from the 12thcentury to the 16th. Toby was formerly the curator of arms and armour at the Wallace Collection in London. He is also a skilled jouster and was one of the two mounted knights in full armour escorting Richard III for interment in Leicester Cathedral in 2015. Toby’s talk will be;

‘Armed in Alabaster: Monumental Effigies and the Study of Late Medieval Armour’

After a buffet lunch, we will visit Framlingham Church (next to the Castle Community Rooms) where Toby will talk about the magnificent Howard tombs and the Flodden helmet worn by Thomas Howard, Earl of Surrey and Duke of Norfolk (d. 1524) who defeated the Scots at Flodden in 1513.
