Luxembourg - Visit to the Chamber of Deputies
Luxembourg - Visit to the Chamber of Deputies
The Society cordially invites you to celebrate one of the Society’s long-standing members, Tom Weidig, who was elected at the 2023 general election in Luxembourg for the first time to the Chamber of Deputies. Tom has agreed to host a visit to the Chamber for members of the Society and their spouses/partners.
Tom will first show us the visitors’ gallery in case you ever want to see a live parliamentary session, then he will take us to the TV production studio and media rooms, the entrance hall, the area for official meetings and press conferences. We will then visit the Chamber itself where Tom says that we can hold a mock session (if we want!), followed by the Deputies' bar (!).
We will then sit down in one of the subcommittee rooms. Tom will talk a bit about his path from an academic career in theoretical physics and several years in risk management and modelling for various banks, insurers and venture capital funds, to how and why he wanted to be elected to the Chamber, his experience as a new member joining the Chamber for the first time and taking up his functions. We can also ask questions regarding the functioning of the Chamber and have a more general discussion.
The visit will take approximately 2 hours, after which we can repair for refreshments to the Bacchus pizzeria-restaurant, which is the favoured establishment of the Deputies.
Booking information
Indicate whether you will be accompanied by someone, with their name, and whether you wish to go on to the pizzeria afterwards. The deadline for registration is Tuesday evening October 8th as the Chamber requires a list of participants. If you miss the deadline, you may still contact us as Tom can still take with him 3 or 4 more people.
Please note that all participants will be required to show their identity card or passport to enter the Chamber of Deputies.
Booking for this event is now closed.
