London - Walking tour - Secret Gardens in the City of London
The Cambridge Society of London are excited to invite you, and your guests to their Walking Tour of Secret Gardens in the City of London hidden amongst the bricks and concrete of the City of London, the oldest part of London and today the financial district, you can find oases of greenery and explosions of colour, as long as you know where to look.
In this tour, we will explore some of the unique gardens in the City of London, including church gardens, historic graveyards, water gardens, and perfumed medicinal gardens. We will enjoy the incongruity of gardens next to Roman ruins and buildings by award-winning modern architects, and discover the beautiful gardens unintentionally created by the Blitz of World War 2. We will finish at a stunning roof garden floating above London on top of one of its iconic skyscrapers.
Duration: this tour is slightly longer than normal at 2.5 -3 hours, as the hidden gardens are more spread out.
- Supplies: The tour includes 1 bus journey across the City so please bring an oyster card or contactless bank card with you
- Meet time: at 1:15pm for an 1:30pm start
