CMS is one of the two large detectors installed 100 m underground at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, which discovered the Higgs particle in 2012. This winter it will be open for maintenance allowing a good view of the innards of this 14,000 tonne, 15 metre diameter x 22 metre long detector.

The tour starts at midday at CERN, which means that if you start in and return to Zurich HB it is an all-day trip (eg 8.00am -8.30pm). You can buy a quick lunch in the CERN canteen.

The main event is on Saturday June 29th, but there is an identical tour on Tuesday June 18th. Please tell me if you have a preference for either date or if only one is possible.
