The ACT Oxford and Cambridge Societies are delighted that Chief Justice Kiefel and Justices Keane, Nettle and Edelman are able to join alumni and guests at the End of Year function at the Commonwealth Club in Canberra on Thursday, 9 November starting at 6.30pm .

The Honourable Chief Justice Susan Mary Kiefel, AC

Susan Mary Kiefel was appointed to the High Court in September 2007. After practising at the Bar, she went to the University of Cambridge, Wolfson College, where she gained a Masters of Laws, being awarded the C.J. Hamson Prize in Comparative Law and the Jennings Prize. In 2008 she was elected an Honorary Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge. 

The Honourable Justice Patrick Anthony Keane, AC

Patrick Anthony Keane was appointed to the High Court in March 2013. He graduated from the University of Queensland with both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Law with First Class Honours. Keane read for a Bachelor of Civil Law at Magdalen College, Oxford, being awarded the Vinerian Scholarship and First Class Honours.

The Honourable Justice Geoffrey Arthur Akeroyd Nettle

Geoffrey Arthur Akeroyd Nettle was appointed to the High Court in February 2015.  He graduated from ANU with a Bachelor of Economics, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne with First Class Honours. Nettle read for a Bachelor of Civil Law at Magdalen College, Oxford, for which he was awarded First Class Honours.

The Honourable Justice James Joshua Edelman

James Joshua Edelman was appointed to the High Court in January 2017. He graduated from the University of Western Australia with both a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Law, with First Class Honours, followed by a Bachelor of Commerce at Murdoch University. He was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship in 1998 and completed a Doctorate in Law at Magdalen College, Oxford. In 2008, Edelman became Professor of the Law of Obligations with a Fellowship attached to Keble College, Oxford.
