How does China’s growing global importance affect opportunities for students to build a career around China? What skills and experiences does it take to pursue a career in China? What is it really like to work in China?

The Thomas Wade Society is bringing together a diverse group of alumni from its network to discuss these questions and more as part of its inaugural China Careers event.

Former British Ambassador to China and patron of the society, Sir William Ehrman (Trinity 1969) will open the event. Afterwards, speakers will share their journeys as graduates of Chinese Studies into professionals working on China-related issues in institutions and sectors as wide ranging as the European Commission, business intelligence, food and beverage, and management consulting. Dr Heather Inwood, lecturer in Chinese Studies at Cambridge, will then lead a panel discussion and Q&A session before the event ends with the opportunity to network.
