School of Clinical Medicine 50th Anniversary Alumni Reunion
School of Clinical Medicine 50th Anniversary Alumni Reunion
Celebrate 50 years of excellence in teaching, innovation and patient care
Professor Patrick Maxwell, the Regius Professor of Physic, and Professor Paul Wilkinson, the Clinical Dean, look forward to welcoming alumni to the School of Clinical Medicine for a special 50th anniversary reunion on Friday 12 June and Saturday 13 June 2026.
We hope you will join us to mark the School's half-century milestone and celebrate the extraordinary impact and achievements of our student, alumni and academic community.
For some, it may be your first time visiting the School building; for others, it will have been only a few years since you last sat in the William Harvey Lecture Theatre.
Our alumni reunion is a chance to reconnect and network with your peers, sharing personal reflections on the School's past. It is also an opportunity to learn more about the School's beginnings, educational developments and ongoing partnerships with the NHS and industry.

All School alumni whom we can contact by email should have received an email in February inviting them to book a place at the reunion.
Please book individually using the personalised link you received in your booking email.
Once you have registered your attendance via the online booking form, you will receive an automated booking confirmation email. Registered attendees with confirmed bookings will then be sent further information nearer the time by email.
Please see the ‘Event booking terms and conditions’ section on our Terms and Conditions webpage for more information.
Get in touch by emailing departments@alumni.cam.ac.uk if you have any questions about booking.
-
When do bookings close?
Bookings will close on Monday 11 May at 4pm UK time, but the booking form will close earlier once there are no available places for any part of the reunion.
We anticipate that registrations will reach capacity in advance of this date so early booking is recommended.
-
Is there a waiting list?
If any part of the reunion is fully booked and you would like to join the waiting list, please get in touch by emailing departments@alumni.cam.ac.uk with your name, matriculation year and College, and which part(s) of the School reunion you would like to attend.

-
Can I bring a guest?
We are delighted to have so much interest from our alumni in the 50th anniversary reunion.
Due to the safe capacity limitations of the School building, and to ensure as many School alumni as possible can attend, we are prioritising School alumni attendees. Unfortunately, this means that we cannot accommodate plus-one guests for any part of the reunion on Friday and Saturday.
Each School alumnus/a should make an individual booking if they wish to attend the anniversary reunion, using the personalised booking link they received via email.
-
I can no longer attend the School reunion. How do I cancel my booking?
You can cancel your booking for any part of the anniversary reunion by emailing departments@alumni.cam.ac.uk.
If you booked a ticket for the drinks reception and formal dinner on Saturday, you can cancel your booking until Monday 18 May and receive a refund minus a £3.00 administration fee.
Any cancellations received after Monday 18 May will not be refunded.
Please see the ‘Event booking terms and conditions’ section on our Terms and Conditions webpage for more information.
-
I did my clinical training elsewhere. Can I still attend the School reunion?
Yes. Whether you did your pre-clinical or clinical training in Cambridge, or a postgraduate course at the School, all medical alumni are welcome to attend our anniversary reunion event.
You can find a full list of the School of Clinical Medicine’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses here.

I studied a medical degree at Cambridge before the School of Clinical Medicine was established/before the School building existed. Can I still attend the School reunion?

If you studied before 1980, the anniversary reunion might even be your first time visiting the School of Clinical Medicine building.

All parts of the School reunion on Friday and Saturday are taking place in person. No part of the reunion will be recorded or live-streamed.

Are there any year-group specific events?
In addition to the main reunion programme which is open to all School alumni, if you matriculated as a pre-clinical student or started your clinical training in the 1960s, 1970s or 1980s you are also invited to an afternoon tea reception at the School on Friday 12 June (3.30pm-5pm) to celebrate our first MB BChir and Medical Sciences cohorts.
We are delighted that the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Deborah Prentice, will be attending this special reception on Friday afternoon to mark this milestone with the School community.
If you are in these first cohorts of medical alumni, you should have received an additional link for the Friday afternoon reception in your individual booking email. Please use that separate link to register your attendance for this special gathering.
Please note that you need to also complete the booking form for the main reunion programme if you wish to also attend the main reunion events open to all School alumni (i.e. the welcome drinks reception on the Friday evening, and/or the Saturday day programme and/or the drinks and dinner on Saturday evening).

I’m not able to attend the School reunion in June. Are there other in-person events relating to the School during the anniversary year?
The Cambridge Festival is taking place between 16 March and 2 April 2026. The Cambridge Festival is a mixture of online, on-demand and in-person events covering all aspects of the world-leading research happening at Cambridge.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the School of Clinical Medicine, the Cambridge Festival programme includes an ‘in conversation’ event in the Keynes Library at the Cambridge Union on Monday 30 March where Dr Ruchira Sinnatamby and Dr Paul Siklos will reflect on the educational developments of the School – from its origins and key milestones to future ambitions.
As part of this Festival programme, the Cambridge Union will also host:
- Professor Giles Yeo whose keynote talk will ask “In a post-Ozempic world, have we cured obesity?”
- Professor Jean Abraham and Professor Charlotte Coles who will share how Cambridge research is transforming the future of breast cancer care
- Professor Tim Dalgleish and Dr Clara Faria who will discuss the current challenges, emerging research and the future of youth mental healthcare
Explore the Cambridge Festival programme and book your place at these and other health-related events here.
Colleges also hold regular medical alumni society events throughout the year. Please get in touch with your College’s alumni office, or your College’s medical alumni society, to find out about any upcoming opportunities to reconnect with your College community.
The Alumni Festival in September will feature discussion panels, researcher tours, and talks from clinical academics across the School and Biomedical Campus. The Alumni Festival in 2026 runs from Friday 18 September to Sunday 20 September. The Alumni Festival programme and bookings will launch in the summer and we hope to welcome many of our medical alumni to our Alumni Festival this year.
