Corin Robertson is a British diplomat, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer at the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office from July 2023. Prior to that Corin was Director General for Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean from April 2022, leading on the UK’s relationships with those countries, and Director Transformation from October 2021 following the merger of the Foreign Office and Department for International Development. Corin served as British Ambassador to Mexico from 2018-21. She was Director, Estates and Security from 2014-17, and British Deputy High Commissioner to Canada from 2011-2014. Corin led the Foreign Office Counter Terrorism Department from 2008-2011 and was the Foreign Office’s Business Engagement Adviser from 2007-2008.
Corin served in Brussels from 2002-2006 at the UK Representation to the European Union, including as chair of the Antici Group during the UK’s Presidency of the EU in 2005 and as Head of the European Parliament team. She headed up the Gibraltar Section in the FCO EU Directorate from 2000-2002. Corin’s first overseas posting was to Japan from 1996-2000, after having spent 2 years in full time Japanese language training. Her first ever job in FCO, straight after graduating from Queens’, was as Desk Officer for Greece and Cyprus in 1994.
Corin grew up in Sheffield, attending King Edward VII School, and graduated from Queens’ in 1994 with a degree in Modern and Medieval Languages (French and Spanish, including a year teaching English in Colombia). She is married with 2 children. She is a Trustee for The Lifeboat Fund, and also an executive coach and mentor.
