How did an association of trading merchants of the Holy Roman Empire evolve to become the pre-eminent trading association which dominated trade in the Baltic and North Sea for close to 500 years? What lessons can be learned from the so-called Hanseatic League? And how can the Hansa legacy be evaluated?

Jens Tholstrup
Jens Tholstrup is Executive Chairman of Oxford Innovation Finance and Senior Adviser, PMB Capital. He is Chair of Governors of St Clare’s; Director of Advanced Oxford and a Visiting Fellow of Kellogg College, Oxford.
Previously, Jens was Managing Director UK, OxfordEconomics; Executive Director, Oxford Analytica and Executive Director, UBS/UBSWarburg
Jens holds a MA in PPE and an MSc in Economic History (both Oxford)
