Melbourne - A sector in transformation, May Lunch
Melbourne - A sector in transformation, May Lunch
Australia is going through a once-in-a-generation energy transformation. A recent study reported that Australia needs to triple the national electricity market’s power capacity by 2023 to achieve net zero by 2050.
In the context of increasing economic uncertainty, global supply chain and geopolitical energy challenges not seen since the 1970s, an orderly transition from fossil fuels to clean energy is the greatest technology, policy and market challenge of our time.
Damien Sanford and David Bowly will join us on 18 May for a panel discussion on the energy transition. Damien is a senior leader in the industry, currently Executive General Manager of Operations at Tilt Renewables, which aims to be the largest renewable energy developer, owner and manager of renewable energy in the country. Prior to this, Damien was an executive at AusNet Services’ subsidiary, Mondo, and managed the challenges of the energy transition in real-time through his role as Chief Operating Officer at the Australian Energy Market Operator.
David Bowly manages Engineering Analytics at AGL Australia, aimed at developing data-driven insights to improve operations within the AGL generation fleet. Before joining AGL, David was an Associate at the Boston Consulting Group and held engineering roles at ExxonMobil and WorleyParsons. David has an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge.
