Geneva - Flower walk & lunch
Geneva - Flower walk & lunch
The Oxford and Cambridge Club of Geneva invites you to join them for their flower walk in the Jura. The walk is behind the Dole through summer pastures filled with wild daffodils and orchids, gentians, marsh marigolds, scilla, soldanella, buttercups and other spring flowers.
Meet Isobel at 10.35 at the Office du Tourisime in St Cergue, Pl. Sy-Vieuxville 3, in the centre of the village by the roundabout. If you wish to come by train, there is one that leaves Nyon at 9.52 and arrives at St Cergue at 10.28. We will car pool for the 20-minute drive from St Cergue to the beginning of the walk in France.
The walk will take place no matter what the weather and will last about two hours along a jeep track and across the fields. Suitable walking boots/shoes are essential and a walking stick is recommended as the ground may be rough in places. We will walk very slowly to look at, and photograph the flowers, so we will only walk a couple of kilometres. Those who would like to sit down and rest may do so, as the group will remain within view across the fields and there is no chance of getting lost. Isobel knows the area well and will choose a suitable trail according to the conditions and to the wishes of those who come. You can even split into two groups if necessary. Isobel will book for a late lunch in a restaurant in Les Rousses, France.
Please bring your own Euro. We will each pay for our own food and drink.
