San Francisco, CA: Don Quixote - A Night at the Movies
You’re invited to join fellow Cambridge alumni and guests for Cambridge Alumni of Northern California’s Don Quixote in the Movies talk and potluck dinner on Saturday, June 6 at 5:30pm.
The evening will begin with an introductory talk on Don Quixote—often regarded as the first modern novel—led by Renaissance scholar Myrial Holbrook (Newnham 2019).
We will then enjoy a screening of selected scenes from one of the most spectacular film adaptations of the novel.
To conclude the evening, guests will have the opportunity to take part in an interactive reading of a lively excerpt from Cervantes’ masterpiece, with plenty of chances to read, enact roles, and join the fun.
This is a potluck dinner, so please bring a main dish to share (enough for 4–6 people). Drinks will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there.

Myrial Holbrook (Newnham 2019)
Myrial Holbrook (Newnham, 2019) is a PhD candidate in English and Knight-Hennessy Scholar at Stanford University. She studies Renaissance literature, particularly prose fiction in English and Spanish, and is writing a dissertation on the subject of digression.
