Notting Hill wasn’t always the salubrious London destination it is today. Once inhabited by pigs, potters and travellers, it’s smartened up its act on more than one occasion.

Today it is famous for being the backdrop of some of the most devastating civil unrest this country has known, the largest street festival in Europe, a world famous market and quite a well-known film!

From authors such as George Orwell, activists like Claudia Jones to entrepreneurs and rock stars such as Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd, Notting Hill has always been a happening place. On this walking tour exploring some of the major streets and some lesser-known corners of Notting Hill, we’ll hear about the how and why of the area through the events, locations and personalities that have shaped it.
