London: A Revisit to the Subject of the Nature of Property Cycles–Past, Present and Future
London: A Revisit to the Subject of the Nature of Property Cycles–Past, Present and Future
In May 2017 Dr Robin Goodchild, then International Director for Global Research & Strategy at LaSalle Investment Management and a past president of CULS, addressed the Society at a very well attended meeting on what he had learnt from working through three ‘big’ property cycles since the early 1970s, with his research being discussed by three experts in the real estate market. He identified 2025 as a key date from which the risk of another ‘big’ cycle increases. His conclusions are set out in a paper in the 2017 CULS magazine, which attracted significant interest.
Robin has updated his research with the help of LaSalle and will present his findings at this presentation. Robin will review how the property cycle has moved since 2017, which has been a highly challenging period, together with providing his prognosis on what might happen in the future, including whether the nature of property cycles has changed.
Robin’s findings will be discussed and commented on by a panel.
