Alumni and guests are invited to join the Cambridge Society of Hereford and Worcester for a tour of the Museum of Carpet followed by lunch at Lovefood Italia.

The Museum of Carpet is a charitable trust chaired by Cambridge alumnus Charles Talbot (Trinity Hall), who has kindly facilitated our visit to this unique and fascinating museum.

The visit will include:

  • Tea/coffee and biscuits, with a short talk about the Museum and the history of Kidderminster’s significant role in the carpet industry
  • A hand loom weaving demonstration
  • A power loom weaving demonstration
  • A brief tour of the Museum, which explores the social history of the industry alongside methods of carpet manufacturing

This will be followed by lunch at Lovefood Italia, a short (5 minute) walk from the Museum of Carpet. Lunch will commence at around 1.00 pm.

Accessibility:

If you’re coming by car or coach, head for the A451 ring road – Green Street is located off the ring road. Green Street is a one way road, with access from the A448/A451 roundabout. At that roundabout, take the turning marked 'New Road Car Park' and follow the road. The Museum of Carpet can be found on the left-hand side, immediately before the traffic lights.

If you are coming by train or visiting the Severn Valley Railway, we are just a 10 minute walk from both railway stations down Comberton Hill.

The Museum does not have its own parking but there is a pay and display car park immediately opposite. To access this car park, turn right at the traffic lights for the Pike Mills / Aldi car park. Please note Morrison’s car park is reserved for supermarket customers only and has a restricted time limit for parking.
