The Cambridge Society of Edinburgh is delighted to invite you to a Formal Dinner and Talk by Professor Sir Hew Strachan, MA, PhD (Cantab), CVO, FBA, FRSE at the Royal Scots Club.
Professor Strachan has taught at Corpus Christi, Cambridge and the Universities of Glasgow, St Andrews and Oxford. He is a Life Fellow of Corpus Christi. His research interests as a military historian have focused most famously on the First World War. His insights into warfare and the conduct of war will extend to reflection on current conflicts.
Menu choices
Starter: EITHER Vegan Feta cheese, carrot and orange salad with a mustard dressing (V,Ve &GF) OR Gin cured smoked Scottish salmon, pickled cucumber & rye bread
Main: EITHER Chargrilled Mediterranean Vegetables, melted vegan cheese & a wild mushroom fricassee (V, Ve & GF) OR Braised Rump of Borders Beef with a Bourguignan garnish & a red wine sauce (both served with a selection of vegetables and potatoes)
Dessert: EITHER Chocolate Truffle Torte with a raspberry compote (V, Ve & GF) OR Selection of cheese and biscuits
Booking information
Tickets include a three course dinner, pre-dinner drinks, wine or soft drinks and coffee/tea. They are priced at £80 each. Recent graduates are encouraged to attend and we have a limited number of tickets at £70. The dress code is Black Tie.
