Dorset - "Rudolph Hess – A Most Curious Life and Death" A talk by Major General Peter Williams CMG OBE
Saturday 28 October 2023, 10.15am to 3.00pm BST
Alumni and guests are invited to join the Cambridge Society of Dorset for a talk by Major General Peter Williams CMG OBE, a history graduate from Magdalene College, Cambridge.
Major General Williams graduated in History from Magdalene College. He is an exciting and dynamic speaker who entertained us a couple of years ago with his talk on his Life as a Cold War Spy: we are pleased to be able to welcome him back. His fascinating life has been full of espionage and intelligence with an insightful knowledge of the human aspects of history from his time as an operational commander and military diplomat during and after the Cold War. His talk this time covers the strange saga of the career of Hitler’s Deputy, his flight to Scotland, his 40-year incarceration in Spandau Prison and is based, in part on Gen Williams’ role as an interpreter at the gaol in Hess’s final years in Berlin.
Lunch at Bryanston is always a splendid affair immaculately presented in historic surroundings. This year the main course will be Halibut, with a vegetarian alternative and a choice of starters and sweets. The full menu is attached below under 'Attached Files'.
