The honours were shared at this year’s Boat Races, the first to take place in London since 2019.

After two years of pandemic disruption, the Boat Races returned to the Championship course on 3 April 2022. Around 250,000 people were thought to be in attendance in West London, with millions more tuning in around the world. This was the 167th edition of the Men’s Boat Race and the 76th edition of the Women’s Boat Race.

Both the Cambridge Women’s crews won their races, with the Women’s Blue boat setting a new record time of 18 minutes 23 seconds. They beat Oxford by 2.25 lengths, despite Oxford also finishing under the previous course record. This means the Cambridge Women earned their fifth successive victory in the women's race. Blondie won too, finishing 2.75 lengths ahead at Mortlake, eight seconds in advance of Osiris. Cambridge's latest success marked Blondie's sixth consecutive victory in the women's reserve race.

The Cambridge Men's Blue boat was beaten after a hard-fought race against the heavier Oxford crew, losing the Men's race by 2.25 lengths with a time of 16 minutes 48 seconds. It was the first time that the Light Blues had been beaten in the men's race since 2017. Meanwhile, the Men’s Reserve crew in Goldie reached the finish 3.5 lengths and 11 seconds behind Oxford's Isis.
