1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions apply to nominations for the University of Cambridge Alumni Awards 2026 (“Awards”). By submitting a nomination, nominators and nominees agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
The Awards are organised and administered by the Development and Alumni Relations Team (“DAR”) at the University of Cambridge.
The University reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions, the judging process, or the Awards timetable in its absolute discretion and without any giving any reasons for doing so. Without limitation to such reservation of rights, any formal updates to the Awards process will be published on the official Awards webpage [https://www.alumni.cam.ac.uk/alumni-awards].
2. Eligibility
To be eligible, nominees must:
- Be a confirmed alumnus/a of the University of Cambridge [https://www.alumni.cam.ac.uk/contact/alumni-eligibility].
- Be nominated for one Award category only. (Provided that the judging panel reserves the right to reassign nominations if more appropriate).
- Not have previously won an Award in the same category. Any such previous winner shall not be eligible in subsequent years.
The following alumni are ineligible:
- Current members of the Alumni Advisory Board or its Working Groups [https://www.alumni.cam.ac.uk/get-involved/the-alumni-advisory-board].
- Current staff members of Development and Alumni Relations.
You may nominate more than one alumnus across different categories.
Both self-nominations and nominations of others are welcome.
Self-nominations will not be accepted without a letter of recommendation referencing the nomination criteria and confirming that the nomination contents are accurate and correct to their best knowledge and belief.
Nominations must be formally accepted by the nominee prior to acceptance.
DAR reserves the right to make a final decision on any individual’s eligibility for the Awards.
3. Nomination Process
Nominations must be submitted through the official online form available on the Awards webpage.
The form must include:
- The nominee’s details.
- A detailed statement (maximum 250 words) describing the nominee’s achievements, impact, leadership and otherwise set out evidence in support of the relevant Award criteria.
- Supporting examples that clearly demonstrate why the nominee should receive an Award.
Single-sentence or brief nominations without supporting examples will not be considered. Nominators should provide as much detail as possible to help the judging panel assess impact and contribution.
Unless otherwise extended by DAR, Award nominations close on Sunday 19 April at noon (GMT). Late or incomplete nominations will not be accepted.
The University and DAR each reserves the right to verify any information provided in a nomination; and may contact nominees or referees to confirm such information.
Neither the University nor DAR is not responsible for entries lost due to technical errors, network issues, or for the exclusion of incomplete submissions.
4. Judging and Selection
All eligible nominations will be reviewed by a panel of Alumni judges.
The judging panel will assess nominations based on the criteria noted on the Awards website [https://www.alumni.cam.ac.uk/alumni-awards]
The judging panel may decide not to present an Award in any category if (in their absolute discretion) one or more suitable candidate(s) are not identified.
If there is more than one exceptional nomination in any or all Award categories, the judges can choose to give more than one award and/or publish the final shortlist of nominees.
The Development and Alumni Relations Team (“DAR”) will oversee the judging process. All decisions of DAR and the judges are final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into (nor shall DAR or the University be responsible for any loss or damage) in relation to any decision by the judges or DAR’s oversight of the process.
The University and DAR each reserves the right to withdraw an Award if new information emerges that could bring the Awards or the University into disrepute. Such right may be exercised before or after an Award has been formally announced or presented to a recipient.
5. Notification and Publicity
Award nominees will be notified by email of the judging panel’s decision.
Award winners will be publicly announced in late 2026. Winners may be invited to participate in associated promotional activities in advance of receiving the Award.
