Edinburgh, Cambridge Ideas Event
The Cambridge Society of Edinburgh invites you to the first in a series of ‘Cambridge Ideas’ events. Magnus Linklater (Trinity Hall) will discuss with author Dr. Andrew Lownie (Magdalene) his recent book Entitled 'The Rise and Fall of the House of York' (of which an updated paperback edition is now available), his earlier works of Royal biography, Traitor King and The Mountbattens, and his work on the Cambridge spies, an interest originating from his time as President of the Union in 1984. Andrew is a trustee of The Campaign for Freedom of Information, and that topic will also be covered.
Dr Andrew Lownie is an author, biographer and literary agent. A graduate of Magdalene College, he holds a doctorate from the University of Edinburgh, and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Trustee of the Campaign for Freedom of Information.
Magnus Linklater is a former editor of The Scotsman and former Scotland editor of The Times, to which he still contributes regularly. A graduate of Trinity Hall, he was awarded a CBE for services to the arts and media, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
