Hereford & Worcester AGM 2026, Lunch and Talk
Hereford & Worcester AGM 2026, Lunch and Talk
Members and guests are warmly invited to our next event, which incorporates our AGM, lunch and a talk. We traditionally invite a prominent speaker to our AGM to talk on an intellectually demanding topic.
Our speaker this year is the Rt. Hon. Jesse Norman, MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire, and his talk is entitled “Tariffs, Trump and AI: the astonishing insights of Adam Smith”.
Jesse has published numerous books and pamphlets and is an authority on Adam Smith, having published “Adam Smith: What he Thought, and Why it Matters” in 2019. This year is the 250th anniversary of Smith’s seminal work on economics “The Wealth of Nations”.
He read Classics at Merton College, Oxford, and, after working at Barclays, he left the City to hold a number of academic fellowships at University College London, St Andrews and All Souls, Oxford. Jesse was elected to parliament in 2010 and has served in a number of positions in government and on parliamentary committees. He is currently Shadow Leader of the House.
