The Oxbridge Club of Slovenia invites you to join them for this special event that brings together alumni from Oxbridge clubs across the region for a day of history, innovation, fine food and wine, and great company.

Programme

Our programme will begin at 12:00 noon in Ajdovscina, a historic Roman town once known as Castra ad Fluvium Frigidum, now a rising hub of biotechnology. We’ll be welcomed by Vipava Mayor, who will introduce Biotehnopolis, a new science and technology park focused on biotech, green innovation, and digital transformation.

We will then travel to the charming village of Vipavski Kriz, where we’ll visit a medieval monastery and its historic library. Along the way, we’ll uncover fascinating stories - from Napoleon’s soldiers and Leonardo da Vinci who supposedly stayed there, and the Battle of the Frigidus in 394 AD, where Emperor Theodosius conquered Eugenius and his army, allegedly with the help of the fierce bora wind that turned arrows against Eugenius' army. 

Our afternoon will continue with a tasting of award-winning local wines, why Vipava Valley is fast becoming one of Europe’s most exciting wine regions. We’ll finish the day with a gourmet dinner with a view.
