Mark served with Hampshire Constabulary for 30 years - retiring in 2016 at the rank of Chief Superintendent. He held a number of roles during that period, including Area Commander for Northern Hampshire, Head of the Joint Operations Unit for Hampshire and Thames Valley, and latterly Head of Professional Standards. He made significant change to several challenging housing estates across Hampshire and cut crime and disorder significantly in those areas.

Following his retirement, Mark became Head of Security and Reception Services at the University of Surrey. There he was responsible for the safety of 16,000 students and 3,000 staff. His team became very important during the out of hours periods, as students sometimes suffered from mental health and other issues. The Security team were the first port of call when any problems emerged particularly during COVID. The team were very well respected for the caring and professional approach they employed during these times.

In recent times Mark has been working for the King’s Trust as Security Manager being responsible for the safety of staff and young people both in the UK and abroad.

Outside of work, Mark has served as Chair of Trustees for Citizen’s Advice in Rushmoor, and as Chair of Governors at Salesian College Farnborough.

He is also a Trustee for the Sean Devereux Children’s Fund, a charity delivering education to children in Liberia. He has visited Liberia on four occasions and has helped to ensure that the Fund’s work is effectively delivered to the most needy and vulnerable.
