Cambridge has retained 2nd place in the QS World University Rankings and ranks number 1 in the Complete University Guide to UK institutions.

Two recently released university league tables have recognised Cambridge’s world-leading research, outstanding education and enduring excellence.

QS World University Rankings

Cambridge has retained its number 2 spot in the QS World University Rankings and remains the highest rated higher education institution in the UK.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the league table, QS implemented the largest methodological enhancement since its inception, introducing three new metrics: sustainability, employment outcomes and international research network. The 2024 QS World University Rankings are the largest ever, with 1,500 universities included.

Only the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is ahead of Cambridge in the table.

The Complete University Guide

The 2024 edition of the Complete University Guide has ranked Cambridge 1st out of 130 universities in the UK.

The Guide considers a range of factors, including: an institution’s entry standards, research intensity and quality, student to staff ratio and graduate prospects. With Cambridge as the benchmark this year, it achieves the maximum overall score of 100%.

The Guide also details how 42 subjects at Cambridge rank in the top 10 across the UK.
