Cambridge University Land Society
Cambridge University Land Society is an informal alumni society which was formed over 60 years ago with two objectives:
- to give an opportunity for members to meet each other, to make and renew friendships and to foster amongst them a spirit of good fellowship and co-operation;
- to act as a link between members from within and outside the Department of Land Economy of the University, and more recently the Department of Architecture, and to provide opportunities for the exchange of views upon and discussion of matters of interest.
We have more than 1,000 members who bring together a diversity of experience and interests. Some left Cambridge in the 1950s, others graduated last year, and some are current students of the Land Economy Department, and the Department of Architecture. Many members of the Society are in senior positions in their profession, while others are just starting their careers.
The majority are or have been Chartered Surveyors, in major West End and provincial practices, the financial institutions and in smaller or more specialised firms. Many other members work in sectors associated with property – for example, in the financial sector, architectural practices, consultancy, business, the academic world and the public sector.
Members will join other alumni who have achieved senior positions in the commercial property, legal, and rural land professions as well as leaders in public companies, local, and national government bodies, and in senior positions in the City of London. The Society provides high quality networking opportunities as well as some excellent social events with fellow members throughout the UK and occasionally from overseas.
Each year the Society holds at least 20 business, and social events including briefing series on Architecture, Commercial, Global Economy, ESG and Sustainability, Urban Regeneration, Rural Regeneration and Real Estate Finance.
