The Cambridge Society of Surrey’s annual summer walk is a 7 mile circular in the Surrey Hills. Starting at Newlands Corner Park (free) it follows the North Downs Way before branching off up to the isolated St Martha’s church, only accessible on foot, at 160 metres above sea level, and then gradual walk down along the Pilgrims Way for lunch at the Drummond Arms in Albury, part of the Duke of Northumberland’s estate. After lunch continue along the Pilgrims Way before climbing back up to the North Downs Way and return to Newlands Corner Corner car park. There is a short cut back to Newlands Corner after lunch for those not wanting to do the full 7 miles.

Start point: Newlands Corner Car park GU4 8SE

Start time: 10.30. It is a relatively easy walk along fields and forest paths with only two climbs to St Martha’s Church and the North Downs Way, after lunch.
