In-person This event is hosted by: Cambridge Society of Somerset Location: Beambridge Inn, Wellington. More location information Our speaker on this occasion will be John Dawer. His subject is “Bhopal 1984: The world’s worst industrial disaster.” At the time of the disaster, John was a young undergraduate living in a nearby seminary. He is able to give a fascinating eye witness account of what happed in Bhopal when a highly toxic gas drifted across the city, affecting nearly half a million residents. This disaster in India indicates a need for enforceable international standards for environmental safety, preventative strategies to avoid similar accidents and industrial disaster preparedness.
