New South Wales, Tennis match vs Oxford
New South Wales, Tennis match vs Oxford
After years of waiting, Sydney finally has a real tennis court - and we’re calling on you to represent Cambridge in our inaugural varsity match against Oxford on 19 December.
This is genuinely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play one of the world’s oldest games, dating back to 12th century France and beloved by Henry VIII. Real tennis is the original racquet sport, and now it’s finally arrived in Sydney.
**We need you on the team**
We’re currently one player short and looking for anyone with racquet sports experience to join us. Here’s the thing: you don’t need to have played real tennis before. If you’ve got skills in squash, lawn tennis, or any racquet sport, you’ll pick it up quickly and have enormous fun doing so. The game rewards quick thinking on your feet and strategic play - quintessentially Cambridge qualities.
Even better, we’re arranging practice sessions beforehand so you can get a feel for the court and the game. No pressure, just a chance to learn history’s most fascinating sport.
Just want to watch? Spectators are very welcome. Real tennis is endlessly entertaining to watch, and the post-match drinks are even better.
