Macclesfield is the home of silk in Cheshire.  In the Silk Mill Museum, Macclesfield, there are displays about silk history and manufacture, but less well known is the collection of Egyptology made by local women Marianne Brocklehurst and Mary Booth in the C19th.  The quality of the objects they chose to collect is first rate, all on display in the Museum.  Bryony Renshaw, Senior Curator of Paradise Mill Museum and the Silk Museum, will talk about the original research she has done into the tours of Egypt made by Brocklehurst and Booth and her curation of the artefacts.

Coffee is available in the Museum from 10:30am, afterwards please join us for lunch at Moules a Go-Go nearby.
