Sir Harvey McGrath is Chair of the Host Committee for the University of Cambridge London Engagement Series, as well as Chair of the Advisory Board of the Impact Investing Institute and Chair of London Treasury Ltd.  He is the former CEO and Chair of Man Group plc,  and former Chair of Prudential plc, the London Development Agency, the Governors of Birkbeck, University of London, and of Better Society Capital. An active philanthropist and social investor, Harvey has supported and led many social purpose organisations and is currently Chair of West London Zone, which supports at-risk children and young people, and a trustee of New Philanthropy Capital, a research-based charity which gives advice and guidance to donors and charities. He was Co-Chair of the ‘Dear World… Yours, Cambridge’ Campaign Board and is a Companion of the Guild of Cambridge Benefactors.

Humphrey Battcock is a Board Member of Cambridge Innovation Capital, a fund that invests in high-growth technology and healthcare companies in the Cambridge Cluster. He is a Panel Member at the Competition and Market Authority and is also a Trustee of Sadler’s Wells. He serves on the Board of the Centre for Homelessness Impact and is Chair of the Institute for Research in Schools. Humphrey served on the ‘Dear World… Yours, Cambridge’ Campaign Board and is a Companion of the Guild of Cambridge Benefactors.

Nadira Lalji Verjee serves as Director of Hospitality for Precis Management Services, based in London. Precis Management Services is a privately-owned owner/operator real estate investment and development company with large mixed portfolio of UK and European real estate assets including self-storage centres (Access Self Storage), UK hotels (under the Montcalm, Inhabit, Park Grand and Shaftesbury brands) and hotels in Germany and France. Nadira graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College in 2009 and was a John Eliot Scholar at Jesus College, Cambridge University in 2010. She worked for Monitor Group in New York and London and received her MBA from Harvard Business School in 2015. Nadira grew up in Vancouver, Canada before moving to the UK in 1996. Nadira’s philanthropic interests centre around primary education in East Africa and Asia. She is a karate black belt. Nadira and Jay were married in 2016. They have a four-year-old boy (Ayan) and a newborn baby boy (Ayden).

Dr Lucy Lord is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and the founding Partner of Central Health Medical Group. She relocated to Hong Kong from the UK in 1989 as a Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Hong Kong, and started working in private practice in 1991. Lucy set up the Patient Care Foundation (PCF), Central Health’s charitable foundation, which works to provide vulnerable, stigmatised or deprived groups and communities within Hong Kong with better access to medical care. She founded and is Co-Chair of Mind HK, and was also instrumental in the founding of the City Mental Health Alliance in Hong Kong.

Felicia van Pallandt Brocklebank was an investment banker for many years including as an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs. She is on the Advisory Board of Somerset House and is a New Foundation Fellow of Eton College. She is a Founder Patron of The British Fashion Council Foundation and a Patron of the British Film Institute. She is involved in philanthropic projects notably in the field of education. She is a co-owner of Papouelli, a London based children’s shoe brand. Felicia served on the ‘Dear World… Yours, Cambridge’ Campaign Board and is a Companion of the Guild of Cambridge Benefactors.

Jay Verjee is the Founder of Addition Capital, an investor in European companies with unrealised potential for growth. Addition currently manages four investments spanning finance, education and industrials. Jay began his career as a corporate lawyer with Linklaters in London, Moscow and Shanghai. He is Chairman of The Rumi Foundation, a UK charitable foundation that serves as the channel for his family’s philanthropic work. Born in Nairobi, he grew up in Toronto and completed his undergraduate studies in Law at Cambridge University (Double First). In 2011, he obtained an MBA at Harvard Business School as a Baker Scholar. His numerous personal interests include: HBS Alumni Board member and Senior Fellow of BayesX, Bayes Business School’s Centre for Innovation and Disruption. He is a keen tennis player.
