Methods of aerial and terrestrial remote sensing have increasingly been applied in archaeology adding both to knowledge of previously known sites and the discovery of hitherto undiscovered landscapes. This talk will present two contrasting studies to illustrate the potential of these methods: one of the rural landscape in northern England, the other of urban centres in Central Italy.
