In view of the event planning for this fall, this annual event is being held in October, rather than in November, as has been customary. The restaurants are just starting to offer game menus, so that this announcement is closer to the date of the event than usual.

The dinner will be held at the Auberge de Choully, a venue familiar to many of you (19 route Crêt-de-Choully, tel 022 753 12 03). The wine tasting will be held at the Clos du Château in Choully, opposite the château and about 100 yards beyond the restaurant (if arriving from Satigny) (29 route du Crêt-de Choully, tel 022 753 01 44). One great advantage of this venue is that they have their own large parking, which we may use, if the public spaces in the village are occupied (Enter the paved courtyard by the main gate; cross it downhill, exit on the opposite side by a gate in the white fence, marked “P”, turn right to parking lot).

The dinner menu is:
Velouté de courges, avec garniture d’automne
Caille désossée forestière
Garniture chasse
Tarte tatin, glace
Pinot noir (1/2 bottle per person)
Eau en carafe
Coffee or tea           
The cost per participant will be CHF 80.-

Participants are welcome at the winery from 18:15. We are expected at the restaurant at 19:30.

We would be grateful if participants would confirm specifically if they plan to attend the tasting as well as the dinner, so we can communicate numbers.

Attendance at this event is limited to 20 participants (“first come first served”).

Location information

Choully is part of the municipality of Satigny, on a hill above the town itself. The road (rampe de Chouilly) goes directly uphill from Satigny; the intersection with the route du Crêt-de-Choully is at the top of the hill. The restaurant is about 50 metres to the right of the intersection, on the left-hand side of the route du Crêt-de-Choully. Parking can be difficult but places are indicated along the route de Crêt-de-Choully. There are a handful of client spaces in front of the restaurant. As mentioned there is a large parking lot at the winery, 100 yards further along on the left.

Choully is served by bus 72 from the Satigny railway station, which is on the suburban line from Cornavin station to la Plaine (SL5). The buses connect with the train (5 minutes to change). Relevant departures are:

Cornavin:      17.48     18:18     18:48

Satigny:         18:00     18:29     19:00

Choully (the stop is very close to the restaurant):  18:15     18:45     19:15

(the last is late for the tasting but in good time for dinner). Return is hourly at:  21:16      22.16    23:15.
