The Wren library at Trinity College has generously offered to share with alumni a selection of letters and papers belonging to Sir James G Frazer (1854-1941). Anthropologist, folklorist and classical scholar, Frazer was one of the founders of the study of comparative religion and mythology. His masterpiece, The Golden Bough, was hugely influential during the first half of the twentieth century, inspiring work by such figures as TS Eliot, Sigmund Freud, and Ludwig Wittgenstein. In this drop-in session, you will have the chance to see treasures such as a first edition of The Golden Bough, heavily annotated by Frazer as he made revisions for later editions, alongside correspondence between Frazer and other scholars and publishers, including Bronisław Malinowski, Lucien Lévy-Bruhl, A.
