Cumbria - Campfield Marsh Walk and Lunch
As a follow-up to the successful walk at Ennerdale Water, we are organising a lunch at Bowness-on-Solway followed by a number of optional walks to suit a range of abilities and enthusiasms. The walks are based on Campfield Marsh RSPB reserve on the shores of the Solway Firth.
May is a great time to visit Campfield Marsh. Although the large numbers of wildfowl will have left, lapwings, redshank, and curlews will all be breeding with dragonflies and butterflies emerging around the wetlands and peat bog.
We will meet for lunch at the Garrison Bistro and Cafe in Bowness, and are hoping to arrange for an RSPB volunteer to join us and give an introduction to the reserve. After the walks, those that want to can meet up for refreshments at the cafe.
