Cheshire, Visit to Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre & Stud Farm
The trip commences at 2pm with a close up introduction in the Open Barn to the magnificent horses, including their history, breeding, role today and the work of the stud. The horses presented may include a stallion, mares and foals. At 2:30pm the group will join a keeper for a walk as they feed otters, captive polecats, red foxes, Scottish wildcats and if possible, barn owls and the red squirrels. Hens and peacocks roam and Shetland ponies, red deer and rare breed pigs can be seen. Opportunities follow for more extensive exploration of the farm and woodland using the various marked paths, with more shire horses in the fields and the wildfowl on the lake before cream tea at the Lakeside Café (included).
